Stovetop Popcorn Recipe | Seeds to grow & How to Pop it on the stovetop.

Here I go into popcorn seeds you can grow, tools you need, ingredients, and step by step instructions on making stovetop popcorn.

Stovetop Popcorn Recipe

Popcorn to Grow at Home

You can easily grow popcorn right in your own garden.

Here are just a few varieties that are known to be prolific and pop nicely.

  • South American Popcorn
  • Japanese Hull-less Popcorn
  • Robust 997

These are just a few of them out there and these varieties are offered through heirloom seed companies.

Tools you need

  • 3-4 quart sized sauce pot with a fitting lid

Ingredients

  • Popcorn Kernels, organic
  • Avocado Oil or Lard
  • Optional: salt, butter, Nutrional yeast

Instructions

  1. In your pot, add about 3-4 tablespoons of avocado oil or lard. Enough to coat the entire bottom of the pot but not drench the kernels.
  2. Allow oil to heat up for 1-2 minutes on medium heat.
  3. Add 1/2 cup of dry, organic popcorn kernels to the oil all at once.
  4. Place lid on immediately and don’t remove lid.
  5. About every minute (or so) gently shake the pot back and forth to “stir” the kernels so none stick and burn.
  6. In a few minutes, you should start hearing the kernels start to pop.
  7. Leave lid on and allow kernels to pop.
  8. You will hear the popping slow, turn off heat and allow the remaining kernels to pop on the residual heat.
  9. Pour into Bowl, melt butter in heated sauce pot, pour butter on top and add toppings.
  10. Enjoy!

That’s it!

Stovetop popcorn is really just that easy. Oil, Kernels, medium heat, a lid and your good.

Remember to use good ingredients and good cookware, especially if you are aiming to rid yourself of the toxic microwave popcorn bags or seeking out a healthier way to eat popcorn in general.

Enjoy!
