Sourdough Pizza Bagel Recipe
Homemade Garden Pizza Sauce & Homemade Bagels
There is nothing like tasting your garden tomatoes in the dead of winter.
You can bring the flavors of your garden in, even on a simple recipe such as these pizza bagels.
I recently wrote how to freeze garden styled pizza sauce, that does not require straining and allows you to sneak in veggies like zucchini or eggplant.
It’s a recipe you can also make fresh, on the spot for your meal, if you are in the throes of gardening season.

Homemade bagels will forever be better than storebought ones.
I explained how I make sourdough bagels here: Basic Sourdough Bagel Recipe
Ingredients:
- Day Old Sourdough Bagels, cut in half
- Extra Virgin Olive oil
- Pizza sauce, homemade preferred, thawed
- Mozzarella Cheese, or any cheese of your choice
- Toppings of choice
Instructions:
- On a cookie sheet, lay out your bagels cut side up.
- Coat the entire cut side up with a generous portion of olive oil.
- Let the bagels soak in olive oil a few minutes and preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
- From there spoon out pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese to cover the bagel.
- If you are desiring toppings, I suggest precooking them in a pan. For example, to sauté peppers, onions until soft, or giving pepperoni a quick heat up in a pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for about 10-15 minutes.
- Cheese should be melted and golden brown.
- Enjoy!
That’s It!
It’s really that simple.
The key is to allow the bagels to soak in the olive oil for a few minutes to make them soft again.
Enjoy!
